Hi there, I am new at blogging and papercrafting but just joined the bloggerrette sorority. A nursery rhyme comes to mind then there was none, I believe its this little piggies (nursery rhymes are not my thing). Please come visit my blog sometime . Have a great day :)
ReplyDeleteHello! I'd love to be entered for the give-a-way. I will grab the button and post about it this week and e-mail you when I have it up and ready.
ReplyDeleteFor my first entry, here is my answer to what comes to mind to the phrase "and then there was none": It brings me back to my 7th grade English class taught by Mrs. Culkin at Inter-Lakes Junior High School in Meredith, NH. Super strict teacher but I liked her. That phrase reminds me of the book with the same title. Not the best best book, but one of the first ones I remember reading and not throwing a hissy fit over having to read. She also introduced us that year to the book 'The Giver', still my all time favorite book even as an adult.
I look forward to reading the others too!

And then there were none...
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful phrase that evokes memory. It reaches into the past just a *bit* in order to give you a glimpse of what once was and an image of what currently is. It really i s fantastic! But, it is almost as if it isn't over yet...like there may be more in store...if you just stick around long enough to discover what may come next!
(Oh...and Electra sent me over!)
Well, "and there was none" always makes me think of something like a waste land, an empty place where there are no people, animals or trees at all...only the wind is blowing...brrr...
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! I'd love to be entered.
Please count me in. Thanks.

and then there were none... to me that means all the beautiful flowers I buy in spring with the best of intentions of nurturing them through the summer, decorating my porch and the holiday special features I design to show off. One by one as summers heat outdoes my attempts to water and speak gently to and persuade the blossoms to grow and offspring to develop, by August there seem to be none left to set on the tale for family gatherings.
ReplyDeleteI have not yet figured out how to do the button thing. Perhaps before the Aug 31 deadline.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteAnd then there was none - thought there was an Agatha Christie book with this title.
But usually think of the 3 little piggies!
Hi Beth,
ReplyDelete"and then there were none"... I think of childhood rhymes, the ones where you start with ten and end with none. It also brings to mind a kind of sadness thinking about several family members passing away. The line and your lovely giveaway gift took me to thinking about autumn. The trees are lush with green leaves now but soon they will begin to turn all the colors of your journal and then they will die and one by one they will fall to the ground until there are none. The tree will rest and rejuvenate and in the Spring new life will begin again.

Hi Beth,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful book your giving away!! What first came to mind on that phrase is actually another saying or title in this case for a song that one of my favorite bands, Genesis, of all time's albums, And then there were 3. Hahaha.
Thanks for the chance to win one of your creations.
Nelly
When I hear that phrase...it reminds me of the nursery rhyme 'Ten little Indians'.

Hi Beth - I know it is too late for the draw, I've just popped over from Carole's class to say hello. The first thing I thought of when I read 'and then there was none' was a song we sang as children called 'Ten Green Bottles hanging on the wall'.
ReplyDeleteLove your Blog - I will be back!!
